In order for the establishments to belong to the group there are certain criteria that they
need to meet. The African Leisure Group members will offer their guests the following:

  • Minimum of 10 rooms
  • Cost of between R450 to R650 per night
  • Good quality accommodation in a secure environment
  • Professional service
  • Own website with all relevant information
  • White linen on beds, white towels
  • Good quality mattresses, sheets, pillows, duvets and blankets
  • All bedding must be the appropriate size, free from stains, holes and fraying
  • Good quality and functional furniture, flooring and curtains/window coverings
  • Tea/Coffee station in room/unit, with kettle and the required crockery and cutlery
  • Small fridge in room/unit
  • Air-conditioner in rooms with remote control
  • Flat screen TV in room/unit with at least 9 DSTV channels, with remote control
  • Instructions on how to operate the air-conditioner and the TV
  • Rooms should be spacious enough to allow guests freedom of movement around all furniture
    and fittings. There should be a surface on which to unpack a suitcase
  • Sufficient cupboard space with hanging space for clothes (hangers supplied) and drawers or
    shelves
  • A small safe in room
  • Hair drier in room
  • Bedside light to be supplied
  • Protection against insects
  • Multi power point/plug connectors for various types of electrical appliances in room
  • List of local emergency numbers
  • Fire /Emergency evacuation plan and diagram in each room
  • Information file in each room with map of the town, places of interest, recommended
    restaurants, take-away outlets, closest convenience shop and ATM’s, shuttle services, websites
    for information, etc
  • En-suite bathroom
  • Reasonably sized mirrors placed appropriately
  • Good quality, clean and absorbent hand and bath towel per person
  • Good quality sealed soap and shampoo
  • Non-slip floor mat
  • Towel rails, racks, shelves and vanity space sufficient for the number of guests
  • Good lighting in room and bathroom
  • Dedicated reception area with telephone, computer and credit card facility
  • Trained and professional staff with a neat appearance
  • Guests must be received, welcomed and all relevant information passed on
  • Clear and functional signage outside and inside all buildings
  • Daily servicing of rooms
  • Free WIFI (not necessarily in each room)
  • Secure parking on site, with access control
  • Laundry service on offer
  • Breakfast to be served in a dedicated area (available for at least 2 hours). A good range of hot
    and cold items to be on offer, with a choice of good quality accompaniments.
  • Table appointments should be of good quality, appropriate to the meal being served
  • Cutlery and crockery must be of good quality
  • Staff assistance must be provided during breakfast
  • Provision should be made for special dietary requirements
  • Dinner and lunch optional / or by special arrangement to groups?
  • Liquor license?
  • Buildings must be neat with good appearance, kept clean and well-maintained
  • Good quality and functional furniture, furnishings, flooring, fittings, appliances and decor
  • Garden and exterior area must be neat and well-maintained
  • Buildings and facilities must be safe for all persons. All walkways and stairs must be slip-free and
    well-lighted at night
  • Good security measures in place (burglar bars / fenced off / guarding service) with good lighting
    at night
  • Fire extinguishers to be placed in all rooms and other strategic points, with signage, as required
    by South African Law
